Preservation in the MSU Libraries
The Special Collections & Preservation Division plans, oversees and coordinates a comprehensive preservation program for the care of the MSU Libraries' collections to ensure their continued use and access. Services and activities in the preservation program include physical conservation; disaster preparedness planning and response; deacidification; reformatting; rehousing; binding; environmental monitoring; and staff and user education. The preservation program also works with the Digital Information Division to coordinate preservation activities for the Libraries' digital collection. The following units have primary responsibility for preservation in the MSU Libraries: Binding Preparation, Digital Information Division, Special Collections, Stacks, and the Wallace Conservation Laboratory.
