Some campaign facts in picture
This cartoon pokes fun at the amount of waste that goes into political campaigns, particularly the 1897 mayoral campaign in Chicago. The cartoon consists of four images displayed on the propellers of a windmill, the captions read: "if all the gas expended were to be usedit would raise a balloon 40,000000000 ft or, the surplis energy would move this steamer;" "the milage covered by cabs would equal the distance from Chicago to Hong Kong;" "the speeches made during the campaign would fill a book this size;" "if all the drums were rolled into one - it owuld reach the height of the auditorium."
