Paris Title and imprint from colophon. This tunnel book is part of an ongoing series of artists' books referencing old travel guidebooks and maps. This view of Paris is from the top floor of the Institut de Monde Arabe. The images were painted on pages from Les Guides Bleus published in 1952. The edition is 500. --Colophon. Images were painted directly on guidebook pages, then offset printed and accordian bound on sides by hand. Poema Reproduced typescript and decorative borders on white bond pages. Heavy brown paper wrappers and pages are cut in shape of a lantern, and bound at top with large stitches made with blue yarn. Front wrapper has a large mesh insert through which can be seen underlying collage of a tree, made from a mounted, decorated white paper cutout, and incorporating real leaves, on mounted yellow paper background with torn edges. The front wrapper is illustrated with a flower made from black and white tissue paper, and gauze dipped in dark orange paint and dried. Tied to the real twig stem is a length of 3 twisted yarns, brown, salmon, and olive colored, which is tied to the flap of a small opened envelope. Inside the envelope is a folded banner (8 x 27 cm.) with the title of the work and the name of the compiler, in reproduced, decorative manuscript, hand-colored, and with glued-on rose leaves.
