Processes: Gocco and digital printing. Watercolor. Housed in a hardbound 9 x 11 x 2.5; clamshell case covered in hand-painted Japanese silk book cloth. (From dealer's website.) Perhaps like many people, we tended to connect the Women's Suffrage Movement with images of early 20th-century parades and pickets. However, a chance encounter with a wonderful little book, Women of the Suffrage Movement by Janice E. Ruth & Evelyn Sinclair ..., reminded us of the pre-Civil War beginnings of the campaign and the remarkable women who supported it. This book from the Library of Congress' Women Who Dare series acted as inspiration for our piece, Victorian Splendor. Back of piece has envelope containing artists' statement. MSU copy:
