On March 16, Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed an Executive Order temporarily closing many public spaces. All academic libraries are included in this order. The MSU Libraries are closed, but we still offer virtual services and many resources do remain available. Please see our Online and Distance Learning resource page for specific Library resources. Reference services are still available via chat and phone. We do have temporary policies for returning/renewing material.
HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS)
HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS) is activated. Michigan State faculty, staff, and students now have reading access to 36% of MSU Libraries' print collection through ETAS. Once logged in at hathitrust.org, MSU users will be able to access the entire public domain corpus plus temporarily have limited access to in-copyright and copyright-undetermined volumes that are held by the MSU Libraries. The web pages below provide additional information:
- General Service Overview
- Policies and Terms of Service for HathiTrust Member Libraries
- Information and FAQs for Library Staff, Faculty, and Students
The Emergency Temporary Access Service is available to Michigan State faculty, staff, and students only for as long as the current emergency situation persists.
Please note: Items the MSU Libraries hold in print will not be available if there is an accessible digitized version in HathiTrust.
To gain access:
- Go to hathitrust.org
- Select log in and choose MSU as your institution
- Then login with your netid and password
Our holding records may not be 100% up-to-date with HathiTrust. If you have any issues, please email our InterLibrary Loan services.
