Raymond F. Boyer was a distinguished Michigan physical scientist and industrial leader. He began work at The Dow Chemical Company as a physicist in 1935, subsequently serving variously as Director of the Physical Research Laboratory, Secretary of the Executive Research Committee, Director of Plastics Research, and Research Fellow. He retired in 1975, at which time he was named Research Professor & Affiliate Scientist at the Michigan Molecular Institute. At his death, he bequeathed funds to endow the support of the Michigan Molecular Institute’s library, which includes distinguished monograph holdings in plastic and polymer science.
