Little Cookbooks: The Alan and Shirley Brocker Sliker Culinary Collection

The Choicest Article In Our List

no preview available

The front of the trade card has a black background, with a color drawing primarily in red, blue and gold of a can of Armour's Roast Beef. Text on the front of the card reads The Choicest Article In Our List, Back Our Judgement With A Trial And You Will Be Enthusiastic In Its Praise. Two thin lines frame the can and all text. The back of the card features a map of the central United States, with cattle ranges highlighted in yellow. Circular mileage rings show the distance between the ranges and Kansas City (site of Armour plant) and Chicago (site of other packing plants). Readers are encouraged to Study This Map. It is interesting to note that Oklahoma states Indian Ter. rather than the state name. At that time prior to 1890, Oklahoma was Indian Territory. The Oklahoma Organic Act passed in 1890 prepared the way for statehood which occurred in 1907.
