Veterinary Medicine
The Veterinary Medicine Historical Collection at Stephen O. Murray and Keelung Hong Special Collections is one of the largest and finest of its kind in the nation — possibly in the world. The collection features some 1,400 manuscripts and books covering the arts and practices of the veterinary profession from as early as the 15th century, and it continues to grow in size and prestige. The majority of the items trace their origins to North America and western Europe, but other parts of the world are also represented. A significant number are unique or survive in very few copies. Strengths of the collection include equine and bovine medicine, farriery, the breeding and keeping of poultry, and general animal husbandry. Peripheral subjects, such as hunting, racing, falconry, and other sporting topics, are also represented.
