EAST LANSING, Mich., July 2024 – For over 70 years, the Michigan State University Libraries’ 1535 “Ptolemy’s Geographia” was kept under wraps because of its fragile condition. Now, thanks to the work of Conservation Librarian Garrett Sumner, the rare 16th-century cartography text has been restored and made available for use.

Chavez Collection, the lasting impact of Professor Emerita Jyotsna G. Singh’s endowment for our early modern collections, the launch of recent digital initiatives including the open access Turfgrass Information File database and the Harmful Language Remediation Working Group's efforts to address harmful language within the Libraries’ public catalog and other resource descriptions on campus, and more!
MSU Libraries to begin relocation of Special Collections in August, select services set to pause

In August, the MSU Libraries Stephen O. Murray & Keelung Hong Special Collections will begin the process of relocating to the third floor of the Main Library’s East Wing. While this is an exciting phase of growth in the Libraries’ transformative reimagination plan, we will also need to put several services on pause to accommodate the move. Access to our Special Collections will be closed for about 12 weeks beginning mid-August, which especially impacts faculty who use these materials for research as well as classes that use these materials for instruction.

MSU Libraries and Taylor & Francis Announce New Open Access Partnership

Supporting Michigan State University (MSU) Libraries’ mission to promote equal access to information for all, a new transformative agreement will allow MSU researchers to publish open access (OA) articles at no cost to them in 2,500 Taylor & Francis and Routledge journals.
