[Life-size Reproduction Of A Very Large Ear Of Corn]

Description
The front panel of this trade card depicts a prize ear of corn in life-size proportions and full color. The back panel says at the top "The other side of this card is an exact reproduction of the Best Ever Ear of Corn Even Raised. It won this $1000 Trophy at the Omaha Corn Show 1909." The trophy is displayed in the middle of the card. Text continues: "The trophy was offered by W.K Kellogg of Battle Creek Mich. to encourage the growing of higher grades of American corn. The trophy was won by Fred C. Palin of Newtown Ind. . ." The champion ear was 10.5 inches long and weighed 20 ounces. More statistics are given, as well as information about the contest and a statement from the winner. At the bottom of the card is a picture of a box of Kellogg's Toasted Corn Flakes and text: "Forty Million Packages Sold in 1909. America's Best Food Made from America's Best Corn." There is a hole at the bottom of the card and a string tied in a loop for hanging.
