The front cover of this pamphlet has a black-and-white photograph of an oat field and farm buildings on the left. A black panel on the right has the title in white print and a large black-and-white drawing of a kernel of oats showing the three parts: endosperm, bran, and germ (embryo). The Quaker Oats Company is in black print on a white background at the bottom. The back page has a large black-and-white drawing of the Quaker man who appears on all Quaker Oats products in a white square on a gray background. The bottom third of the back cover has a black background with This Symbol Is Your Guarantee Of Quality and the company's name and address (141 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago 4, Illinois) in white print. The first two pages tell the history of oatmeal and Quaker Oats oatmeal with illustrations. The next two pages tell The Processing Of Quaker Oats And Mother's Oats From Field to Package, also with illustrations. Pages 6 and 7 show How Oatmeal Leads All These Cereals In vital Food Elements! with graphs showing how various cereals compare in protein, Vitamin B1, iron and food-energy. How Important Are The Breakfasts In Your Life? tells the benefits of breakfast, followed by four recipes, all Mary Alden's Favorite Recipes and "tested in our modern kitchens": chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, Scotch toffee, meat loaf and oatmeal muffins. Each recipe is accompanied by a black-and-white photograph. The back end page has a 12-question quiz, Do You Know . . . Your Oats? with space to write the answers.
