Description
The gold wraparound cover of this pamphlet has a black-and-white drawing of a bottle of Hires Root Beer spraying as it is being opened on the right. The upper left corner has silhouettes of an owl and a parrot sitting on tree branches in the moon. The title is in gold lettering on a black background. The back cover has a drawing of a young boy drawing on a wall, "Hurrah, my ma is goin to make Hires Root Beer." There is a box of Hires Root Beer sticking out of his pocket. The front end page promotes Hires Rootbeer, The Best Drink On Earth, saying it has "healthfulness" and a "restful refreshment." Following are directions for making Hires Rootbeer using a bottle of Hires Rootbeer Extract which is "sold everywhere or sent by mail upon receipt of 25 cents." The top of the back end page has "Think two thinks When choosing drinks And Hires Rootbeer Will link your thinks," followed by information about the ingredients and the benefits of drinking Hires Rootbeer. It is also available in carbonated form at "all first-class soda fountains." There are seven pages of poems about Bobby, the owl and the parrot. Each page has a drawing and saying about Hires Rootbeer at the top. The last page provides illustrated instructions on How To Tie A Cork On A Bottle. Bottles with patent stoppers are available at dealers for 75 cents per dozen for pints or $1.00 per dozen for quarts.
