Ben leads a team of librarians who are responsible for teaching information literacy workshops for students in a WRA first year writing, James Madison, or Integrative Studies course. He has presented nationally and internationally on topics such as creativity in instruction, incorporating technology into instruction, and becoming a critically reflective teacher. Ben has served on multiple ACRL IS and ALA LIRT committees, as well as LOEX Board President. He is currently Vice-Chair of the ACRL Instruction Section (IS). Prior to his current position, Ben was an Information Literacy Librarian at Michigan State University and an Instruction & Reference Librarian at Mars Hill College in Asheville, NC. Ben earned his MLIS at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and a MA in Education at Michigan State University. Prior to a career in librarianship, Ben worked as an elementary school teacher in Raleigh, NC and a Peace Corps volunteer teaching English as a Foreign Language in the Slovak Republic.
