Staff Awards 2020

Erin Weller
Outstanding Achievement

Erin Weller has made exceptional and wide-ranging contributions to the Libraries this year. In addition to taking on the supervision of Remote Storage, Stacks Maintenance, and Rovi Processing, Erin also served on the Strategic Plan Steering Committee, ASSC, the Rovi Task Force, and the ILS RFP team. This was all in addition to running Circulation, which is an extraordinarily complex operation. Recently she has been working with her team to clean up literally tens of thousands of records in anticipation of a new ILS and has involved verifying if patrons are still with the university and contacting them as necessary. As a result, we will have a much easier time implementing the new system. During our regular operations, Erin is literally on call almost 24/5 during the semester, and is sometimes awakened in the middle of the night by a late night supervisor when serious incidents occur. She is also in charge of our security procedures as a whole, and arranges for training with campus police and other officials. When we closed to the public in March, Erin worked out ways for essential work to get done safely, staffing as needed to ensure access to the building. She was instrumental to the development of the new controlled digital lending system and spearheaded the purchase of contactless lockers. Her flexibility, patience, respect for others, attention to detail, and willingness to experiment with new processes is impressive and appreciated.
