COVID-19 hit during the busiest time of year for Lisa Smith. She personally made sure Acquisitions staff could be sent home to safety while coming in herself to prepare work for the team. She was there to obtain books quickly so students and professors could finish the Spring semester strong. The level of organization needed to keep the budget straight and invoices prepared for payments fell to her as well. She has always been a good and fair supervisor who respects work/life balance while holding employees accountable. She went above and beyond by adding tedious and repetitive work to her own tasks to keep others in Acquisitions supplied with at-home work. Her work informed the work of her own staff but also the work of Collection Management. MSU was one of the few BTAA schools that continued to receive print books all fiscal year largely due to the work of Lisa Smith.
