Answering Your Questions About Electric Refrigeration. The Alan and Shirley Brocker Sliker Collection, MSS 314, Special Collections, Michigan State University Libraries. Available at https://lib.msu.edu/sliker/object/10629
This item is under copyright.
The front panel is white with a colored illustration of a refrigerator dealer with his arm on a refrigerator, addressing a well-dressed couple who are facing the refrigerator and the dealer. Directly beneath the scene is the title, "Answering your Questions about Electric Refrigeration - " The back panel is white with a sales representative stamp in the center which reads, "H.B. Rector Company, Inc. 318 Stockton Street San Francisco Sutter 1831." At the very bottom left in small print are the words, "Sales Promotion Division SP-39 No. 4" and on the bottom right, "Copyright 1929, General Electric Co. Printed in the U.S.A. 3-29." First unfolding reveals a picture of a refrigerator with its door open, and the words in orange running across the front of the appliance, "Many questions are answered in this folder." In a dark ink across the top of the page is typed, "There are certain questions you should ask about any electric refrigerator before installing it in your home . . . " This unfolds again to display twelve questions and answers with illustrations. This page unfolds twice to reveal the full sheet of paper. In triptych form, there are three sections. The left and right sections illustrate models of refrigerators and describe details of size, functions, and features. The middle section is a promotional. At the top it reads, "Because it answers every requirement, the General Electric Refrigerator has won overnight popularity among the home-makers of America." Beneath the words, the same well-dressed couple are now peering into an open refrigerator - she is seated with a mink stole draped casually off her shoulder, and he is leaning on the refrigerator, in a similar fashion to the salesman on the front panel. The reverse side contains one more section of models as well as the other panels described above.
