This item is in the public domain.
The front cover is white with decorative wheat stalks surrounding a drawing of a woman holding up a pan of fresh baked bread. The bread maker is next to her on a table. At the bottom it reads "Landers, Frary & Clark New Britain, Conn. U.S.A." The back cover is white with a logo in yellow and blue (the initials L,F and C intertwined.) The inside is a promotional pamphlet on the Universal Bread Maker, a hand cranked mixer that mixes and kneads bread dough. Several illustrations try to show how kneading bread by hand is "disagreeable" and "old-fashioned" while the machine makes the task "easy and pleasant" and finished in three minutes. One page displays the dates of the patents on the bread maker. The dates range from 1900 to 1903 with more patents pending. There are directions for using the machine, as well as bread making tips and recipes for wheat bread, graham bread, rolls, Election Cake, and raised doughnuts. There are no page numbers.
