The front cover is white with the title in blue. There is an illustration of a woman and canning jars. Superimposed is a large can of Mother's Canning Brand fruit. At the bottom it says "The New Easy and Economical Way." The NJC logo [Northern Jobbing Company] is displayed near the can. The back cover is white with a heading in bright red and yellow that says "Mother's Canning Brand." Below is promotional text about the canned fruit. At the very bottom is a yellow box for a grocer's stamp. There is a St. Paul grocer stamp there. The inside is a promotional pamphlet as well as a collection of recipes for canning and making syrup, jelly and jam from Mother's Canning Brand Fruits and Berries. In the centerfold is an offer for a set of silverware and cash for the best recipe and the best story. On the top and bottom of every page are different slogans, including "Ask your R.C.U. Store for Mother's Canning Brand." The R.C.U.[Retailers Commercial Union] was a buying pool organized by grocers and retail merchants in the midwest and western United States in the early 20th century.
