This gold pamphlet has "Ayer's American Almanac 1921 - Sixty-Ninth Year Of Publication" in black above a large drawing of a lion's head. Below is "Ayer's Hair Vigor Does Not Color The Hair" in red above "Published by Dr. J. C. Ayer & Co., Practical and Analytical Chemists, Lowell, Mass., U.S.A." in black. There is a frame of a thin black line and a Victorian deco line. The back cover has a black frame with a drawing of a butterfly with a bottle of Ayer's Hair Vigor as the body. At the top is "Ayer's Hair Vigor" and between the wings is "Soft, Smooth, Rich, Heavy Hair. As Beautiful as a Butterfly." Below is "Does Not Color the Hair: Checks Falling Hair, Removes Dandruff, Promotes Growth, An Elegant Dressing." Below a thin black line is "This Almanac Is Presented By" above stamped "W.J. Tillitson, Laingsburg, Mich. 100." Below is a promo for Ayer's products and the company name and address. There is a red string through one hole punched in the upper left corner. The front end page has a double-line frame and lists Formulas for Ayer's Cherry Pectoral, Ayer's Sarsaparilla, Ayer's Pills, Ayer's Malaria and Ague Remedy and Ayer's Hair Vigor. The back end page, entitled "Look Out! Make No Mistake!" urges readers to consult their doctor in all medical matters: "Do you go to a lawyer for edical advice? Or to your minister for legal advice? Or to your hardware store for groceries? 'Certainly not,' you say, 'such talk is foolish.'" Almanac information includes a page on eclipses, morning and evening stars and chronological cycles for 1921 and a page for each month with moon phases, times for sun rises, sun sets and moon sets, interesting events on days of that month and several jokes at the bottom ("'Pa.' 'Yes, Willie.' 'Teacher says that we are here to help others.' 'Of course we are.' 'Well, what are the others here for?'"). Several pages promote Ayer's products and all the ailments they relieve and numerous cautions to consult a doctor first. There is one page, "Is Sickness Necessary?" which provides Aids to Prevent Sickness: fresh air, good food, dry feet, sleep and sunlight. There are no page numbers.
