The front cover features a drawn color illustration of fields containing pineapple plants. In the center, there is a large pineapple depicted. At the top, the title "The Kingdom That Grew Out Of A Boy's Garden" is written in black lettering against a white background. The author, Marion Mason Hale, is listed at the bottom. The back cover also features fields of pineapple plants. At the top, there is an illustration of a pineapple, a can of Dole, two bowls of crushed pineapple, and a plate of slice pineapple. The inside pages begin with the history of pineapple and how it grew out of a little boy's garden. Some of the headings throughout the story include in which a dream begins to come true, along comes dream number two, pineapples too much have their iron, now prepare for a great thrill, and have happy workers if you want better pineapple. Pages twenty eight and twenty nine entail "The new way to buy canned Hawaiian Pineapple." These two pages have an illustration of a large pineapple, three cans of dole pineapple, and three plates of sliced pineapple. The rest of the inside pages are dedicated to various recipes that utilize Hawaiian pineapple in them such as Hawaiian pineapple ham salad, Hawaiian pineapple-cranberry jumble, Hawaiian pineapple omelet, Hawaiian pineapple pork chops, Dutch Hawaiian pineapple cake, Hawaiian pineapple queen Fritters, Quick Hawaiian pineapple pudding, and Hawaiian pineapple with orange sections. All recipes include color illustrations, ingredients, and step-by-step directions.
