The front cover features a drawn illustration of ham and bacon with the company name written on both in white lettering. The title "Excelsior Brand of Hams, Beef, Lard, and Bacon" is written in red and blue lettering. The back cover contains a silver frame around the heading "J.H. Michener & Co. Packers of Kettle Rendered Lard Excelsior Brand" with a silver bucket of lard in the center. There is a pink ribbon at the bottom consisting of the phrase "We pack but one grade of lard and that the best." The front end page is dedicated to the trademark for Excelsior which is outline in yellow and has a drawn color illustration of a man holding an Excelsior flag. The following inside pages feature Frost's Comprehensive Calendar. The years range between 1776-1955 and include all months from January to December. At the bottom of each calendar, the phrase "The years for which this calendar stands are found in the index" is stated. The back end page begins at the top with "J.H. Michener & Co. General Provision Dealers" and continues with a drawn blue star with the words "M&M Phila" written in the center. At the bottom, "Gold Medals Awarded For Meats and Lard, Paris Exposition 1889" is written in red and blue lettering.
