The front cover begins at the top with the title "Rumford Complete Cook Book" written in black lettering against a red background. At the bottom, the phrase "More than 5,000,000 copies in use" is stated. The back cover is blank. The inside pages begin with a black and white illustration of Benjamin Thompson and continue with a title page that entails a signature from the author Lily Haxworth Wallace. After the title page, there a few pages containing definitions of terms used in cookery along with weights and measurements. The rest of the inside pages are dedicated to various recipes that fall under the categories of soups, meats, fish, poultry, vegetables, eggs, desserts, sweet sauces, and beverages. All recipes entail a list of all the ingredients needed followed by detailed directions on how to prepare the dish. Throughout the inside pages there are various black and white photographic illustrations depicting recipes that can be found in the book. Pages 197 through 210 contain the "Classified Index" and "Alphabetical Index."
