The front and back cover are yellow board with brown deco. A small framed image of an Indian maid is below the title on the front and centered on the back cover. The first page has a letter from the Corn Products Refining Co. The verso of that page has space marked for three addresses. The title page states "The Modern Method of Preparing Foods" By Ida Bailey Allen. International Nutrition Authority, Author of "Mrs. Allen on Cooking-Menus-Service", "Your Foods and You or The Role of Diet", etc.Illustrations by Jack Wilbur. The facing page is a photograph of Mrs. Ida Bailey Allen. The prologue and the epilogue are signed by Mrs. Allen. The recipes are arranged by meal (breakfast, luncheons, dinner, supper.) There are boxes with double lines around them with factoids about food. There are pages on health and wealth, the history of corn, about high tea, and what the right napery means. The last two pages are yellow; one discusses how to make Mazola-mayonnaise and the other about a marvelous beauty bath.
