Outstanding Achievement

Jessica Wagner has had a tremendous year supporting the MSU Libraries. She served as the Advisory Support Staff Committee President while also serving on the Strategic Planning team. Last July, she took on a new position as head of the Text Management department and continued to perform the duties of her previous position until a new person could be hired and trained. As supervisor, she meets with each unit in her department weekly to set clear expectations while also visioning the department’s future to align with the library’s strategic plan. As head of Text Management, she continually shows concern and support for student success as well as faculty and staff who visit 2 West. She has participated in the mentoring program with Mary Schueller to better understand library accounting and the financial impact of her unit. This year she completed her Master’s Degree in the HALE (Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education) Program. One of her driving passions in the HALE program is to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion in the libraries, and she has researched programming and outreach opportunities to encourage high school students from diverse cultures to consider a career in the libraries. She will be submitting a microgrant proposal to initiate this program at MSUL.  She deserves the outstanding achievement award for these reasons and for the positive attitude she maintains every day.
