Systems - Work From Home
Special Projects

When technology things are chaotic, Systems staff lend a calm and steady hand. They are exemplars in providing robust, reliable, and secure infrastructure. During the lead up and early phases of the work-from-home mandate, the Systems staff also displayed an absolute willingness to jump in and help. They quickly crafted telecommuting guidance, complete with detailed step-by-step graphics for using MSU specific tools as varied at the VPN and Office 365. They identified and prepared laptops for nearly a quarter of the staff who had no ready alternative for remote work (recall: there had been a run on laptops and one simply could not buy a machine in a timely manner). It is, however, their personal connections and firm understanding of Library staff work styles that assuaged anxieties and made the transition easier.
